An Amalfi Coast-Inspired Holiday Party in Toronto
The Colas Canada holiday party at Arcadian Loft in Toronto was designed to transport guests far beyond the city straight to the warmth and vibrancy of the Amalfi Coast.
From the moment guests arrived, the goal was clear: create an immersive experience that felt unexpected, elevated, and unforgettable. Through layered floral design and a dramatic ceiling installation, the space was transformed into a Mediterranean escape in the heart of downtown Toronto.
A Celebration Inspired by La Dolce Vita
Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the Amalfi Coast, the floral direction embraced an organic, just-picked aesthetic.
We designed arrangements to feel wild and effortless, as though the florals had been gathered directly from the landscape and placed throughout the space. Smilax vine became a defining element, used in abundance to create movement and a sense of natural overgrowth that softened the architecture of the venue.
The intention was to blur the line between indoors and outdoors, allowing guests to feel fully immersed in the environment.
A Statement Ceiling Installation
The defining feature of the event was the custom ceiling installation designed to create an immediate “wow” moment.
We constructed suspended panels of ivy and smilax that hovered above the dance floor, creating depth and drawing the eye upward as guests entered the space. To extend the experience throughout the room, fresh smilax vine was delicately draped along the string lights, adding continuity and movement overhead.
This layered approach transformed the ceiling into a living installation, one that evolved throughout the night as guests moved beneath it.
A Touch of Amalfi: Lemons as Design Detail
No Amalfi Coast-inspired event would be complete without lemons.
We incorporated fresh lemons throughout the floral design, weaving them into tablescapes and accent moments across the venue. Beyond their visual impact, they added texture, colour, and a subtle sense of playfulness that balanced the overall design.
These small details helped reinforce the theme while keeping the space feeling refined and cohesive.
